Sérgio Ferraz Novaes

Sérgio Ferraz Novaes is Full Professor at the São Paulo State University. He is member of the Compact Muon Solenoid Collaboration from the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) and he is the leader of the CMS group in São Paulo and the Principal Investigator of São Paulo Research and Analysis Center (SPRACE). His team deployed the GridUnesp, the first Campus Grid in Latin America and he is the Scientific Director of the Center for Scientific Computing from UNESP and PI of several joint R&D projects with the private sector which include an Intel Parallel Computing Center and a Center of Excellence in Machine Learning. His team broke three times the record of data transmission between the North and South Hemispheres. He is the Brazilian representative to the Particles and Fields Commission from the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics, and the Technical-Scientific Director of the Management Committee of the Center of Technological Research in Oil and Gas of the Santos Basin.
