David Correa Martins Júnior

David C. Martins-Jr. received the B.Sc. (2001), M.Sc. (2004) and Ph.D. (2008) degrees in computer science from the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Sao Paulo (USP), Brazil. In 2007, he did a research stage (doctorate sandwich) at the Genomic Signal Processing Laboratory, Texas A&M University, USA. His Ph.D. thesis received an honorable mention from CAPES Thesis Award 2009. Since 2009, he has been a professor at the Center of Mathematics, Computing and Cognition of Federal University of ABC (UFABC), Brazil. In 2015 and 2017 he received the Academic Excellence Awards from the UFABC computer science graduation program and neuroscience and cognition graduation program respectively. His main research topics are in pattern recognition, bioinformatics and systems biology, including, but not limited to, gene network identification and genes/biomarkers prioritization associated to complex diseases.
