Alexandre da Silva Simões

Alexandre da Silva Simões is a full professor of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence at UNESP. He has a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from USP. His research focus is Robotics, with particular interests in machine consciousness, machine learning, artificial intelligence, control and automation and also the dissemination of science and technology. He was a member of the Artificial Intelligence Committee (2008-2010), and the Robotics committee (2006-2008/2008-2010/2016-to date) of the Brazilian Computer Society He was chair of the robotics area at Campus Party Brazil (2007-2010). He is a founding member of the Brazilian Robotics Olympiad (OBR) and the National Robotics Fair (MNR). He was awarded the “Rumos Itaú Cultural” prize in cybernetics/robotics. He has founded RoboCup Brazil, and he was General co-Chair of the RoboCup 2014 World event. He is the Director of the Sorocaba Campus of UNESP for the 2017-2021 period.
