André Fujita

André Fujita obtained his B.S. in Computer Science (2003), Ph.D. in Bioinformatics (2007), and Habilitation (2016) from the University of São Paulo. He was postdoc at the Human Genome Center of the University of Tokyo (Nov/2007~Mar/2009) and at the Computational Science Research Program of RIKEN (Apr/2009~MFeb/2011) (Japan). He was visiting researcher at the Cancer Research Institute of the University of Kanazawa (Jan/2014 and Dec/2014 ~ Jan/2015) and guest researcher at Leipzig University (Germany). He received several national and international awards such as the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship (Germany), the Newton Advanced Fellowship by the Royal Society (the UK), and the Young Researcher Highlight by the Brazilian Association for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. He is interested in themes associated with connectivity and network statistics, both with applications in biological data analyses. Currently he is Associate Professor at the Dept. of Computer Science of the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of São Paulo and vice-coordinator of the graduate program in Bioinformatics.
